From the Dominican Republic we sail to Great Inagua in the Bahamas, home to a flock 60,000 flamingos. We take a tour of the island and then depart on another overnight sail to Crooked and Acklins Islands where we feel a little bit like the Swiss Family Robinson. One week of strolling along miles of empty beaches, rummaging around the abandoned settlements, and swimming everyday in pristine water was everything we had missed about the Bahamas.
