EP42 Riptide in Chiloe, leaving Pindo on the way to Quemchi, 8 meters tidal range
This trip, from Pindo to Quemchi, we experienced a very strong riptide, from whirlpools to the view of boiling water and boiling oil, very fascinating and scary. luckily, the bay and channel is wide enough and caused no danger to us. In a place with 8 meters tidal range, where to tie the dinghy is always a challenge if there are no floating pontoons. The local fisherman of Quemchi caught a big snoek by dragging the line with his small boat in the bay. We tried the same, but caught nothing, only seaweed. đđ We also tried to make some local Chilean food, like Pulmay, with the clamps and mussels gifted from the fisherman. Now, we are waiting for a weather window to cross the canal Chacao. #sailaroundtheworld #patagoniachile #sailboat #chile #ithacacruising
