This week we. have a non boat. DIY project in store. Since we bought this house we let the girls. each pick. their own bedroom sets. We looked at a lot of them and Swab liked the bunk beds that had a staircase going up to them instead of a ladder you climb. We must have looked at 20 different ones, and then she found one she liked without a bed on the bottom, it is a cottage play area but did not have a staircase to the bed. We got it and within a month of having it she said she wished she had the one with the stairs because climbing up the ladder isn't fun in the middle of the night. As the one that tucks her in most nights, I tend to agree. So we decided to build a set of stairs for it using simple materials that will look great and match the overall look and feel. I also told her it would have colored lights built into it so she can light up the steps whatever color she wants. This video explains what we are going to do, shows the current setup, materials and the first part of getting the rough parts cut out for assembly. In the next video we should be able to finish the build and hopefully paint and light them. If not, that may be a 3rd episode. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them.
