Cruising: repairing one's boat in exotic ports of call
So with the boat peacefully at anchor I get a chance to dive and plug the offending through-hull from the outside so that I can disassemble the seacock. As I suspected, the tapered plug is corroded, which is the most likely reason for failing to shut off. I try to remedy this with some epoxy. I try a new repair on the holed elbow but end up reverting to the old one--epoxy-doped duct tape, but this time it stops the leak altogether (hooray!). Then it's on to repairing the sternlight, and about then I discover a propane leak ... but, alas! I do finally make it to Key West.
