BoatTechTV Episode 10 - Marine Fouling

In this episode we explain the different types of marine fouling that can occur on a sail boat hull and a sailboat propeller. The traditional methods to treat the problem of marine fouling are discussed and the new methods that are environmentally friendly are introduced. The increase in drag on a sailboat is also discussed which can be as much as 40% for sailboat covered in barnacles! This adds to the fuel consumption and also to the emissions of NOx and Sox in the environment. Both of these adverse evicts can be overcome by painting; this is the subject of the next video in the series.
