Boat cradle build | Ep 6

With cyclone season fast approaching here in Fiji, part of our strategy for keeping NV safe this year is to sit her in a cradle on top of a 20ft shipping container. By 'cradle', we mean a seat to sit the boat in when it's on the hard. This video shows the making of the aft cradle, which consists of 4 ribs, where each rib is made up of 4 strips of mahogany laminated on top of each other with fiberglass in between. He raced her in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), coming 5th and becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race. We are currently in Fiji transforming NV from an race boat to a performance family cruiser! We’re planning to set sail again in October 2022 , giving us just over a year to turn our dreams into reality and get back on the water!
