Arriving In Schengen With A Non EU Spouse | Series 2 Episode 9 | Ep 76

In this episode we sail to Fowey and meet up with some friends for the day. We go to the MAD museum and look for the graves of Hughs dead relatives whom we discover were pirates. We have a quick stopover in Falmouth before setting off across the channel for France. On arriving in Brest I talk to immigration to check on the protocol for our situation. As I hold an Irish passport I have the right as an EU citizen to have my family travel with me and thus the 90/180 days in Schengen doesn't apply to us. However the immigration officer in France had never heard of this rule, does this mean we are taking a gamble and we won't be able to travel as freely as we had hoped? We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have t he guts to cast off.
