After making landfall in Australia, we did a quick haulout near Brisbane to get the boat back into shape after crossing the entire Pacific Ocean. We then set out to cruise down the east coast of the continent, enjoying the natural beauty and great sailing conditions as we made progress toward our next goal of reaching Sydney. The ketch Julia was designed by William Atkin and built in British Columbia in 1960. She is a traditionally built wooden boat, planked in Doug Fir on oak frames. Our dinghy is skin-on-frame and was designed by Dave Gentry.
