2019 RORC Caribbean 600 – Race Preview Film

75 yachts are about to embark on the 11th edition of this epic 600 nautical mile race around 11 Caribbean islands, starting and finishing off Fort Charlotte, Antigua on Monday 18th February 2019. The fleet includes some of the world's best-known racing teams as well as passionate Corinthian sailors who have come together from all corners of the globe to race a diverse range of boats from 21 countries. Five start times (Local, -4 UTC): 1100: IRC 2, 3 & CSA, 1110: IRC 1, 1120: Class40, 1130: IRC Zero & Superyacht, 1140: Multihull. In the build-up to the non-stop race there has already been high drama. The race is set provide a thrilling spectacle with front-runners reporting that both the multihull and monohull race records could be broken. The weather forecast is suggesting that moderate trade winds at the start will strengthen during the race, giving classic Caribbean sailing conditions of warm trade winds from the east with a moderate sea state. The preview film for the 2019 RORC Caribbean 600, features interviews with some of the 700+ sailors from 21 countries taking part in the race, including: Argo's Brian Thompson (GBR) and Chad Corning (USA); Giovanni Soldini (ITA) Maserati Multi70; Terry Hutchinson (USA) on Hap Fauth's Bella Mente; Bouwe Bekking (NED) on the superyacht Nikata; Jonathan McKee (USA) from Greg Slyngstad's Fujin and from the two smallest yachts in the race; Johannes Gerssen (NED) racing Cabbyl Vane Two-Handed with his brother, and Rosalin Kemp (NED) from Bernie Evan-Wong's Antiguan entry Taz, plus RORC CEO, Eddie Warden Owen.
