The author of the “Art of War” says that to know your enemy, you must become your enemy. While this idea has been around for quite some time, when those on the right side of the political aisle try to out think the left, they find themselves in a web of ideas that seem contradictory and irrational that leaves them floundering. But the conflicting logic that the left follows is both more simple than people realize, and far worse than the ideas themselves.
I love watching the powerboats play! In today's video, we'll watch as this power cat does a few laps. He picks up a challenger and it's powerboat against powerboat...in my head, it's like a mini version of the Outlaw Challenge. Who's going to win?

Nigel built his first boat out of concrete when a college student. He then cruised from the UK to the Caribbean on a shoestring budget. For some years he skippered other people's super-yachts but now sails his own Oyster 435, Azura of Felixstowe. This year he will be making his 18th Atlantic crossing in order to cruise one of his favourite regions - Galicia. When not sailing he lives and lectures in New Zealand. In 1989 he sat out Hurricane Hugo at anchor and has gained much experience during the course of his sailing career. His talk describes how to avoid hurricanes and how to prepare for them if caught in their path. Nostalgic sunset, sailing across the sea with waves whispering the dreams of one's youth. Purple sea, painted sky. Clouds drift as dreams pass by whispering lullaby in twilight’s soft, embracing hold. Captured on WhitePearl Liveaboard Palau.
Our reactions reveal the stories we hold within, often shaped by past experiences and unresolved pain. By observing these triggers, we can uncover the core beliefs that govern our lives, allowing us to break free from old narratives and embrace healing. Next time you feel triggered, take a moment to reflect on the story you’re telling yourself—it’s a crucial step towards understanding and transformation. . . . #MindfulHealing #BreakTheCycle #InnerTransformation #HealingJourney #SelfAwareness #EmotionalWellness #MindsetShift #UncoverYourTruth #TriggeredToHeal #RewriteYourStory #healingonboard

Part of living on a boat is downsizing and this can be super hard with special items you love. For me, my baby grand piano is probably one of the hardest things to let go, but let go I must to create this new life.

Questions and Tangents #14 and this episode we continue down the rabbit hole regarding buying a used race boat. Recap Last time we discussed this I said, 'Don't do it - unless you REALLY want/ need to do it.' But as you did it anyway... (which I knew you would...) This time I'm saying- 'Since you can't take simple advice-;) here's 2 further hours of things to bear in mind.' I guess #3 (Owing a Race Boat Long Term) is coming soon... Questions & tangents returns for the last time in 2022 and I have lots to get through, questions I cover this episode range from Man Overboard recovery systems I don't know about to Mainsail reefing systems I don't know about to the safety of smaller boats in heavy conditions which is definitely something I don't know about. Plenty of targets and confusion as always- and maybe even some answers to your questions - if YOU have a sailing question or conundrum you would like considering by myself and the Mariner community please write to me at csmthemariner@gmail.com (mailto:csmthemariner@gmail.com) and I will try to help out! In this episode I tackle some longer, more in-depth questions sent by Patreon supporters. We will be looking at options to replace traditional backstay setups when you have or are thinking of getting a new big roach or flat-top main and I'll be getting under the skin of what it takes to be the kind of skipper people want to sail with ... more than once. This episode we investigate 'G is for Gybing' (Jibing for those in North America!) as part of our on-going 'ABC of Sailing' . I discuss what it's like to gybe an Open 60 in the Southern Ocean, mistakes to avoid, potential injuries/damage, how to deal with crash gybes that lead to broaches and why it's healthy to be nervous of this most dynamic sailing evolution. In this episode I take a look at the transferable skills sailors possess that could prove useful in the global crisis we are all now facing. With a unique outlook created by the unusual nature of sailing compared to all other sports, could offshore sailors prove to be a positive force during lockdown and beyond? I also answer a listener question and reveal my maximum recorded speeds & maximum day's distance sailed and discuss fluid intake at sea- I also give thanks to my first Patreon supporter- 'Sailing Starbuck!' Welcome to the very first episode of the Berthon Podcast. In this short pilot, Sue Grant, Managing Director of the Berthon Sales Group, introduces who we are, what we do, and why we’ve launched this series. Berthon is a fourth-generation, family-owned business with shipyard roots stretching back centuries, and today we’re one of the most established international yacht brokerages in the market. We sell around 200 yachts a year, across sail and power, from 35ft bluewater cruisers to 120ft performance yachts, working out of offices in the UK, Sweden, Spain, and the USA. In this introduction, Sue shares: • The history and heritage behind Berthon. • What makes our brokerage different, from specialist brokers to in-house photography and video. • Our passion for yachts, people, and the incredible stories that come with them. • A look at the publications and events we produce, from the Berthon Book to our annual Market Report. • What you can expect from this podcast — future episodes will cover yacht sales insights, bluewater cruising, interviews with owners and designers, and much more. Whether you’re buying, selling, dreaming of bluewater horizons, or simply curious about the world of yachting, this podcast is here to share insights, stories, and a bit of behind-the-scenes life at Berthon.
