Highlights from our last Philippines snorkel safari in December which started in Moalboal on Cebu, then later moved to the little island called Cabilao, and finished up with in Anda on the south east side of Bohol. A truely beautiful country with some exceptional snorkeling. Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village - One of the best kept secrets in the Sinai “You come as a guest but leave as a friend"- With our friendly, personal and professional approach come and enjoy warm Bedouin hospitality in a relaxed setting with stunning views of Tiran island. Sharks Bay Umbi is a picturesque bay with everything on site – its own private jetty, dive centre, boats, restaurant, Bedouin cafe and 2 types of accommodation - making it the perfect resort for your next holiday. Unique in the area, Sharks Bay Umbi manages to retain a friendly village feel whilst still being only ten minutes from the bright lights of Sharm El Sheikh. Sharm residents describe the bay as having the feel of how Sharm used to be before the arrival of large scale tourism. Diving The onsite dive centre has a team of professional and friendly staff led by Hosna Umbi, the dive centre manager. The centre is one of the few places in the area with its own beautiful house reef - perfect for gentle dives, courses and snorkelling. We have our own Freedom fleet of diving boats, two of which can be used for diving safaris, giving you the flexibility to book anything from 2 nights to 2-week safaris. We also prefer to keep groups smaller on the boats which means that guests can enjoy a better day’s diving away from the crowds. One of the great things about the bay is that everything is on site and therefore no long transfers to the boats. The dive boats leave from our jetty which is just a short stroll along the beach from the dive centre. As we own the jetty, we are normally the first to get away. Liveaboards We can offer mini-liveaboards from 2 nights to an unlimited number of days, so you can experience the whole of the northern Red Sea. A week on board will take you to such famous places as the Straits of Tiran, Ras Mohammed, the wrecks of the Thistlegorm and Dunraven or further still, to the Straits of Gubal with its unique reef, Abu Nuhas and its four wrecks. Our cabins are simply but comfortably furnished and on all our trips we take a RIB for additional safety and to give us the opportunity to dive on reefs where the larger boats cannot go. New for 2019 Freedom III will be departing every Monday and Thursday from the middle of May. Guests sleep on the boat the night before departure ensuring an early start the following day. With a variety of proposed itineraries; Mini-Wreck Thistlegorm, Mini-Tiran, Mini-Ras Mohammed & Tiran, Northern Wrecks & Reefs, Northern Standard, Deep North & Dahab, Ras Mohammed & Wrecks, Ras Mohammed &Tiran or Tailor-Made by you, there is something to suit everyone. Accommodation Sharks Bay Umbi offers traditional Bedouin style and hospitality alongside modern facilities. We have two types of accommodation to fit every budget: *Standard (Bedouin Village) Rooms These individually styled Bedouin Village Rooms are built into the cliff above the bay and all the rooms have direct sea views, most with balconies. Constructed on different levels and accessible by a series of walkways and alleyways, there are several communal terraces and rest areas which have been incorporated into the design. All have private bathrooms, air-conditioning, mini-fridges, television and telephone. *Beach Cabins These wooden cabins are at sea level with the front row being directly on the beach. All have small private bathrooms, air-conditioning and mini-fridges. Great for families with small children, or anyone who wants easy access to the beach and waterfront! Towels are provided in the bathroom but not for beach use. All rooms are twin bedded. Restaurant The Umbi Seafood Restaurant is located right on the beach with fantastic views of Tiran Island and is where you will enjoy your breakfast every day. Breakfast is served buffet style with choices of breads and pastries, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, a variety of hot food and a choice of freshly cooked eggs. The restaurant also caters for lunch and dinner and serves fresh fish and seafood dishes as well as a wide range of other meat and vegetarian options. A wonderful place to enjoy a great meal at the end the day! For an even more amazing view, especially at sunset, we have the new Howdah Bedouin Café at the top of the cliff that specialises in authentic Bedouin food. We also have a Beach Bar for lighter meals and drinks and the Bedouin Tent where you can relax and enjoy a shisha, a beer or a coffee overlooking the sea. If you fancy something livelier then Soho Square is a couple of minutes by car or Naama Bay is only 10 minutes away. Additional Activities A calmer attraction is the Sinai Desert with its fabulous mountains and Wadis. Combining the Sinai’s unique landscape with our deep-rooted Bedouin connections you can spend a fascinating time learning about the culture of the Bedouin or just enjoying the silence and natural beauty of the desert. We offer different excursions including St. Catherine’s, Mount Sinai, the Coloured Canyon and Dahab.
