Sunset House on Grand Cayman, resort for divers by divers, Cayman Islands
We took the podcast on the road. British ocean racers Dee Caffari and Sam Davies joined Alec Wilkinson on the main stage at Excel London. Forthright views as always, as the three discussed the disgusting state of our plastic-ridden oceans, the Magenta Project and women's sailing. Compelling stuff. Recorded 14/01/17

My son is a much better cast net thrower than me. He does use the cast net in the ocean a lot to catch bait fish. I votanti in calo, i cittadini si allontanano dalla politica! Non pensa che la sostituzione della politica concreta e coerente con la politica effimera e patinata del marketing abbia contribuito ad allontanare i cittadini dalla cosa pubblica?

So we tried to leave Fiji and hit a reef. I've been feeling feeling sad, angry, embarrassed, relieved no one got hurt and frustrated with myself for forgetting the #1 rule of seamanship. Always keep a good lookout! The boat is currently on the hard getting fixed and I have been commuting to her to supervise the repairs from an apartment we rented up the street. What I found strange about this accident is the feeling that I have to rush to get the boat fixed and get us going again. In reality there is literally no reason to rush. We have no schedule to keep, no place to be, yet the feeling of urgency is there. "something bad happened, let's fix it FAST". I'm learning this feeling is not real and perhaps even more important than the #1 rule of seamanship is the the principal of constantly slowing down. And when I think I'm going slow, slow down even further. No matter what you're experiencing there is no rush. It is by slowing down, feeling and connecting that we bring meaning to our experience. It felt great to spend some time looking back over these last couple months of videos. I'm grateful for the great times we've had in Fiji and the incredible experiences we've created. I hope you enjoy this one.
