Here's our budget update for August! Had a great week with Pat's son. We ate out a lot, and although I budgeted more in our entertainment category, we still overspent. Oh well. We had a great time!! They are a family living, traveling, learning and enjoying the world aboard the 38-foot catamaran Fata Morgana. Their names are Ivo, Mira and Maya. For them it’s a voyage into a new and unknown way of life. They left behind work, school, home and all those things that give us a false sense of security and comfort, in order to find alternative ways of learning and experiencing the world. They are traveling and living aboard and produce their own solar power and fresh water and they sail as much as possible and also catch and eat a lot of fish. In November 2012, Ivo, Mira and Maya piled up a bunch of clothes, books, and tools on a 1988 motor home and left their house in Canada in search of a boat. After five months on the road, they found their version of the "perfect boat". ‘Fata Morgana’ became their new home and school for an unknown number of years. Ivo, Mira and Maya are traveling around the world and living full-time aboard Fata Morgana, a 2001 Robertson & Caine Leopard 38. Halloween is an odd holiday, right? Why do we celebrate it, and now that we know how bad sugar is for all of us why do we still hand it out to each other in small individually wrapped packages? It's fun. It's a fun holiday that for the majority of us is about play, community, and imagination. Not to mention it's a thing- it's what all of us do. I wonder what Halloween will look like over the next five to ten years. In the video I share what we do as a family for Halloween - spoiler- it's super mainstream. I know we could do Switch Witch or one of the many other names for it, however it’s just not for us. Sitting out of the fun is also not something we’re interested in. Every year I consider how we could be better around this holiday with what we give away or how we handle the candy situation and every year we do the same thing. I primarily wanted to get a video edited right away for Halloween just so I could use the Jerry Seinfeld clip to explain where I’m coming from on this. Like Seinfeld demonstrates, at times I feel like my kids are too fixated on candy- especially from October 31st through December 25th. How do you handle candy in your household? PS. Fuerteventura est une des 7 iles des Canaries. Elle est notamment connue pour ses spots de surfs et ses belles plages. Ici, nous irons à Corralejo, Puerto del Rosario (la capitale) et Gran Tarajal où nous assisterons à "Mar Abierto" l'un des plus grands festivals de musique de Fuerteventura. Bonjour à tous et bienvenue, nous sommes "Les Cagouilles Du Large". Nous sommes une famille de 4 personnes: Fred; Sandra; Valentin et Maurine. Nous embarquons sur notre voilier, un Sun Fizz de chez Jeanneau nommé "Mister Fizz" en compagnie de Heïdi notre chienne berger blanc suisse, et de Fifi notre chatte. Nous allons vous faire découvrir les lieux où nous débarquerons durant notre voyage autour du monde ainsi que notre mode de vie à bord.
