In this video, the crew of Sailing Catamaran Element arrive at the very busy Island of Rodos (Rhodes) Greece and visit the awe inspiring Crusades era castle with an old town World Heritage Site protected within its might walls. We take a hop-on hop-off bus tour around the island visiting the local aquarium, then are offered a free harbour tour from our "submarine" dockside neighbor. About Us: We are a Canadian sailing family of four from Vancouver, Canada. We had the fast paced life, we had good careers, owned the big house, but something was missing….. We had been sailing for several years on yachts with our local “Lower Mainland Yacht Co-op” (www.lmyc.ca), where Shaun was a volunteer sailing instructor. After chartering in the Caribbean several times, extending our distances further and further on larger and larger yachts, then onto Catamarans, we knew we were ready for a lifestyle change and to spend quality time with our quickly growing girls. In 2015, we purchased “Element” a 2003 Catana 471 (Hull #68) in Marmaris, Turkey and the adventures began to unfold. Paul Trammel has a passion for surfing, sailing and free-diving. Paul shares his plans to sell up and head off for a life of solo sailing adventure, funded in part by his solo-sailing book writing. With plans to live on the ocean permanently, Paul talks about how has made his dreams a reality, along with tips on the content distribution platforms that budding new sailing writers can now use to monetise digital and printed content. Paul lives by the mantra: "Fear is here for us to face and adventure waits on the other side" and he talks about the solo adventures that inspired his new book: 'Journey to the Ragged Islands: Sailing Solo Through The Bahamas', which includes stories of his adventures, 67 photographs, visits to dozens of uninhabited islands, several shark encounters, six blue holes and three point breaks. Full details: https://www.oceansailingpodcast.com/hobart-to-picton-20 Crossing the Tasman Sea is one of the most revered ocean crossings on the planet. With nothing but open ocean from the bottom of Australia/New Zealand to Antartica; 1,000nm to the south, the ocean swell can build in height with no land to stop it for more than 2,500nm until it hits the shores of the Pacific Islands. There are many reasons why more people have climbed Mount Everest than have sailed across the Tasman Sea and the rapidly changing nature of the Tasman Sea's weather system is one of them. I have crossed the Tasman Sea five times (two solo) on Ocean Gem, the keys to success include waiting for the weather window, downloading live weather en-route and sailing a vessel thats easy to mode for all wind and swell conditions. Despite its reputation for extreme conditions, the Tasman Sea is easy to cross safely if you stay clear of the winter storm season (late May to August) and wait for a safe weather window. It’s an absolute bucket-list voyage and a hugely satisfying personal achievement. We'll depart Hobart and spend the first 7-8 hours getting clear of the Tasmanian Coast, before setting a course toward the top of New Zealand's South Island to the destination of Waikawa Bay, Picton set in the famous cruising grounds of the Marlborough Sounds. The sea life, milky way, phosphorescence and tranquility of crossing an ocean and seeing no other vessels for the bulk of the voyage, really make this a special sailing experience. Secure your place on the crew with a 20% deposit. Full details: https://www.oceansailingpodcast.com/hobart-to-picton-20

Eileen and I travel today from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Koh Lipe Island, Thailand via Langkawi, Malaysia. We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? Book your class here : https://www.balireply.com/best-activity/ubud/wood-carving-in-ubud/ Ubud is a famous and popular place for handicraft and also for wooden craft, here you will learn some basics of it and be immerge in a traditional Balinese family . This was run as a private class for us by a guy who was a 4th generation wood carver. The whole experience was amazing, from him giving us lots of history lessons of Ubud, as well as explaining different woods, their characteristics, and the history of the various tools. Once he'd showed us the basics of how to hold the wood (with your feet!) and use the tools. He took 4 blocks of wood and marked out designs in pencil. He then showed us each how to do a certain area and then let us do the work. After each section, he'd explain what to do next, and we'd go again. Considering none of us had done anything like this before (and the children are only 7 and 9) I was really impressed with our end results!
Vlog #6 In this episode we are in Tillamook bay and show you our only reason for even crossing the bar into this bay, which is coined as the most dangerous bar on the whole coast. Its the place Jessica has been the most excited to see so far, THE CHEESE FACTORY. Many buses and lots of walking later we find it, and eat ALL of the cheese. Tillamook definitely did not disappoint us on this adventure. --------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica.
