After years of incredible adventures and challenges—from cycling across Japan to rediscovering my love for sailing—I've set my sights on a new goal: sailing the length of Japan during Cherry Blossom season and then likely completely circling Japan by boat! I have already done it by bicycle, and I could well be the first person to follow the Cherry Blossoms, the length of Japan, by bike and boat. This journey will take me to my final unexplored prefecture, Shimane, and allow me to see the coastal spots I've always dreamed of and, in many cases, where I have already cycled. I`m particularly looking forward to sailing past the towering granite cliffs where the Japanese Alps spill into the Sea and where, on an abandoned road, I discovered the story of an Englishman who is considered the father of mountaineering in Japan. ► Presented as a previewed at the recent Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the VisionF 82 ALU marks a step towards more environmentally-friendly luxury cruising, thanks to a large surface area of solar panels and a powerful battery bank - all capable of powering this multiyacht for 20 hours without need for generator support. It’s worth noting that the aluminum construction incorporates a recyclable material... however, this 82, announced two years ago, is not as virtuous as the collaboration with Silent Yachts would have us believe - it’s primarily powered by traditional internal combustion engines. The layout is customizable, with generous natural lighting thanks to large windows and ultra-comfortable cabins – 195 square feet (18 m²) for the Owner’s Suite. As for the aft cockpit, it can be transformed into a huge bathing platform thanks to the hydraulic platform and folding bulwarks. Die Tuamotus sind - neben den Marquesas, den Gesellschaftsinseln, den Gambierinseln und Tahiti - eine großflächig verteilte Gruppe aus Südseeatollen. Wir haben zunächst 2 Wochen lang Raroia besucht, bevor wir nach Makemo aufgebrochen sind. Um sowohl in Raroia als auch in Makemo bei der Aus- bzw. Einfahrt ins Atoll die s.g. Slacktime abzupassen, also den vergleichsweise kurzen Moment zwischen Flut und Ebbe in dem die Strömung zum Erliegen kommt, ist es notwendig die 75 nM und 14 h über Nacht zu segeln. Da Kurs und Windstärke passen, können wir unseren geliebten Parasailor setzen und die ganze Nacht hindurch mit diesem feuerroten Flügelsegel dahinrauschen. MariaNoa bleibt ein komfortabler aber eben auch langsamer Katamaran. Für unsere Verhältnisse sind wir mit 6-8 kn aber erstaunlich zügig unterwegs. Trotzdem erreichen wir den Pass von Makemo etwas spät und haben 3-4 kn incoming water. Rechts und links von uns brechen sich bereits die Wellen. Dank Satellitenbildern und dem Guestimator sowie einigen Seezeichen innerhalb des Atolls kommen wir mit Schwung aber sicher durch den Pass. Vor der kleinen Ansiedlung gleich hinter dem Pass gehen wir für ein paar Stunden vor Anker. Wir wollen die Mittagssonne abwarten, weil dann die beste Sicht auf die Korallenköpfe herrscht, die wir sicher umschiffen müssen, wenn wir uns in dem Atoll bewegen. Eine dicke Wolkendecke vereitelt zwar diesen Plan, dennoch erreichen wir unversehrt den Ankerplatz im Osten des Atolls. Habt Ihr konkrete Fragen? ‘X-Pat’ is a 2004 Y-Yachts X-43 listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Pittwater. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/x-yachts-x43-x-pat X-Yachts are clearly a step above – think lead keel, triple spreader rig, Andersen winches, and of course the signature steel frame joining loads from the keel, mast, and rig. The X 43 is a performance cruiser which can be easily handled by two. X-Pat has been optimised and significantly updated for quick and easy cruising. Rigging was replaced new along with a new mast track and car system in 2023. Much of the navigation gear was installed new in 2020 with new four new Raymarine cockpit displays. There are two Raymarine Axiom plotters (2017) with AIS transmit and receive. The auto-pilot drive unit was installed new in September 2023.
