After crossing the Atlantic, we finally reached Cadiz, Spain — but with our starboard engine controls broken, docking turned into a high-stakes challenge. I had to throttle manually from the engine room while the captain shouted commands over a walkie-talkie. One wrong move, and it could have been a disaster. Watch the full episode on our channel to see how we made it through this unforgettable finale of our Atlantic crossing. ————————————————————————— Stay connected! 🔗 Facebook: [facebook.com/bumsonaboat] Instagram: [instagram.com/bumsonaboat]
We had Skoota hauled out yesterday at the marina in Indiantown, Florida about 20 miles inland and on the canal to Lake Okeechobee. That makes it a safe place to store a boat during the hurricane season. Thus it is hugely popular, many of the cruisers we met in the Bahamas said they stored their boats here. We'd passed by on our trip east on New Years Day but hadn't really appreciated just how large a facility it is. As you can see from this video taken from Skoota's foredeck - it's huge. Apparently there is room for 500 boats in storage plus a large work yard Skoota will be staying here until late November, meantime we fly off on Monday (if we can work out how to get to the airport, 100 miles away)
