My first foray into Timelapse Video. Lessons for next time: 1. Don't forget anything at home. 2. Bring a book... and a jacket. 3. The wide open apeture setting reduces flicker, but the depth of field makes things look out of focus on f/1.4... Better to accept some flicker and fix in post-processing. 4. Shooting on North Ave footbridge is way too shaky. Image stabilization is a pain in the neck. 5. Egg timer motion devices don't handle the weight of a DSLR very well. Image stabilization is still a pain in the neck.
A sleek racing yacht tries to overtake another in heavy wind — both catch a huge gust at the same time! The sails tilt dangerously close, the boom nearly hits the other deck, and chaos erupts. Captured from a drone — pure sailing adrenaline! 💨🔥 #Sailing #YachtRace #OvertakeFail #AdrenalineSailing #SailingChaos #OceanAction #YachtLife #DroneFootage #SailingAdventure #EpicMoment
We were sailing out liveaboard sailboat/raceboat up the coast, and almost home under the golden gate bridge. Just 15 miles form the gate, we noticed a problem: the engine temp alarm, and no input to the RPM gauge/tacometer. A telltale sign that the engine belt is broken! We rolled around with no wind and no engine, tools flying across the room, and no steerage. We were able to get a new belt on eventually, and most importantly, we got back to the dock just in time to get burritos at our favorite burrito place!
