My first foray into Timelapse Video. Lessons for next time: 1. Don't forget anything at home. 2. Bring a book... and a jacket. 3. The wide open apeture setting reduces flicker, but the depth of field makes things look out of focus on f/1.4... Better to accept some flicker and fix in post-processing. 4. Shooting on North Ave footbridge is way too shaky. Image stabilization is a pain in the neck. 5. Egg timer motion devices don't handle the weight of a DSLR very well. Image stabilization is still a pain in the neck.

The annual Tampa, Florida to Key Largo Florida small boat race is underway. For more info on the race and to track each of the participants visit WaterTribe.com and look for the Everglades Challenge event. Hobie Adventure Island and Hobie Tandem Island pedaling sailboats are very popular choices. A government mandate has been increasing the amount of ethanol in the nation's fuel supply, which not only damages boat engine and fuel systems but can present very real safety concerns. Mandating the increasing use of the ethanol was legislation passed in 2005, the Renewable Fuel Standard, which BoatUS (http://www.BoatUS.com/e15aGoodLawForYesterday), along with a coalition of groups, is now fighting to repeal.
