In this #short video, I practice a new (for me) Solo Sailing Docking Technique. The dock line standing by is tied off to the winch. As I slowly motor my 32 foot sailboat into the slip, I loop the dock line around the dock cleat. Then wrap the line back around the winch and the forward momentum of the sailboat will pull you snuggly into the dock. EASY! 🇫🇷 Après le Vendée Globe 2024, les skippers reprennent la mer, mais cette fois-ci vers le nord ! En solitaire, sans escale et sans assistance, ils partiront des Sables d'Olonne pour franchir le cercle polaire arctique... à l'endroit de leur choix. C'est la grande nouveauté de cette édition : il n'y a pas d'itinéraire imposé. Ce parcours ouvert promet une variété de trajectoires, des stratégies multiples et un scénario haletant. La course au large se réinvente ! Les marins devront traverser des systèmes météorologiques complexes et instables. Dépressions, mer courte, brouillard, froid... Les conditions peuvent être difficiles et imprévisibles dans ces hautes latitudes auxquelles les marins ne sont pas habitués. Pour la première fois, les skippers du Vendée Globe atteindront le cercle polaire ! Course majeure du calendrier, la Vendée Arctique est la première grande étape de la préparation du prochain Vendée Globe, en 2028. Le village de la course, installé sur l'esplanade du Vendée Globe, sera ouvert au public du 30 mai au 7 juin. Dans une ambiance à la fois estivale et polaire, il proposera des animations, des rencontres avec les skippers et une découverte des coulisses. Au programme : courses de vitesse des IMOCA en baie des Sables d’Olonne, animations, rencontres avec les skippers et sensibilisation aux enjeux environnementaux, particulièrement de la région arctique. Ce territoire, emblématique mais vulnérable, est en première ligne face aux effets du dérèglement climatique. 🇬🇧 After the Vendée Globe 2024, the skippers are setting sail again, this time heading north! Gaetano è nato il 7 luglio 1968 a Cala Gonone sulla costa orientale della Sardegna dove ha sempre vissuto; qui il rapporto con la natura è la vita stessa, e al mare Gaetano ha consacrato la sua esistenza, nell'appassionato incontro tra lavoro, sogno e avventura.Dove è nato Gaetano non esistono circoli velici e manca una tradizione di vela. La sua carriera in mare incomincia presto quando si imbarca come mozzo sui pescherecci, poi come comandante sul trasporto passeggeri di piccolo cabotaggio. A vent'anni acquista il Dovesesto un fatiscente veliero d'epoca di 23 metri col quale, una volta restaurato, si guadagnerà da vivere (un'innovativa esperienza imprenditoriale) facendo charter e sarà la scuola della sua vita. Autodidatta per forza di cose ha imparato la vela da solo, trasformando la sua passione in impegno concreto attraverso studio e determinazione imparando a comprendere il vento onnipresente nella sua isola. Poi le regate lungo l' Oceano, una conquista dopo l'altra. La sua vocazione è la navigazione in solitario, quella che gli è più congeniale per la quale sente di avere una predisposizione fisica e mentale. La sua ultima impresa è la partecipazione alla Transat 2009. Nel 2011 ha progettato "gironelmondo" e dal 2012 inizia l'attività con BET 1128 Saling Team. Partecipando alla Palermo Montecarlo dove vince nella sua classe, poi la Middle Sea Race dove conquista il secondo posto. Nel 2013 trasloco in oceano per la partecipazione a Les Sables-Horta- Les Sables e alla Transat Jacques Vabre
