We set off into the sunset and at first light we would wake to another destination. China shop is one site in Komodo that is often overlooked, but I have never been able to figure out why. Located in the north of the park, it is the perfect site for snorkeling or diving. It’s shallow reef is a mixture of hard coral, sponges, and giant coral bommies. The reef itself extends for hundreds of meters as it fringes the island. Mantas are frequent visitors to this site as they like to feed in the channel between the two islands, while green sea-turtles and hawksbill sea-turtles have made their homes in the reef. Whether you’re diving or snorkeling, you can’t go wrong with this site as it offers something for everyone!

The Catamaran is a tri-lingual portal publishing work by journalists from all over Sri Lanka. Stories in English, Sinhalese and Tamil provide background and add analysis to the most interesting stories in the country. Original reporting is available for free syndication to Sri Lankan and international media, the aim being to give novice reporters exposure and help experienced local journalists reach a wider audience. Bringing journalists from different Sri Lankan communities together strengthens vital ties and increases opportunities for collaboration, as well as contributing to capacity building in the Sri Lankan media sector.
