What is Raiding? At our events, which span four days of sailing, each day's races (or non-competitive group sailing, depending on which boat you're on) are divided between our smaller craft and larger yachts. Routes are set by Matt and most participants are lined up for the starting sequence! Cream tea or a picnic moored up in a cove, the days vary depending on where we sail and the weather of course. Evenings are spent unwinding by the water with a cold drink, followed by a delicious meal and the day's prize-giving, always full of good humour. Some of the hardier sailors stay aboard their Swallow, while others opt for a more luxurious stay in nearby accommodations. Unlike traditional racing, raiding is all about camaraderie, strategy, and skill—without the use of engines. It’s just wind, water, and teamwork! Join the adventure and experience the best of sail-and-oar cruising, join the waiting list to hear about our next raid. 🌊 Sign up + learn more about our events: https://swallowyachts.com/events/ ⛵ Discover the Swallow Yachts Association: https://swallowyachts.com/the-association/

With that sun shinning, flat water and a gentle breeze it was easy for the J109 to Going to Red to cut close behind the sterns of a couple of Impala 28 who where locked in a close battle of their own. Judging the speed of both your own yacht and the yachts around you is key to every skippers race management as in many cases the closer you can get to yachts which are in other races and and often in the way the less ground you will give up to you competitors in your own race. Going to Red did not look back in this race and lead from start to finish in tricky conditions for the SLYC Regatta. With the wind flicking up and and down and from left to right for most of the afternoon the whole crew needed to be on their toes to ensure they keep the boat moving and in clear air.

Confident and clearly in control of the boat and the race." - a happy sailor from one of our previous RTIR To find out more head to our website or follow us on our social channels.
