A signal cannon, also known as a salute cannon, is a small cannon, typically less than two feet in length, used for signaling and saluting rather than for military combat. These cannons were historically used on ships and on land to announce arrivals, warn of danger, or signal distress. They are also commonly used for celebratory events, such as starting sailboat races or marking significant milestones. HARBORBURN makes the only legit, useable, black-powder, muzzle-loading, fuse-lighting, loud-blasting signal cannon on the market. Hand-stamped and customized for your boat name, the ‘Herrington Mk. 1’ cannons are useable artwork and will last a lifetime. HARBORBURN started as a passion project between four sailors who wanted a real, black-powder signal cannon for their own boats, but nothing was available…so we made one! The Zeppelin Bend. 🔸 More knots at 'kats.co/kts' 🔸 I think different colour ropes are really handy for seeing what's going on. Once you get this one down, it's really easy to remember and it's great for tying two ropes together. 🔸 You can also use a sheet bend (different sizes) or a double sheet bend (covered in a separate post). The Zeppelin is the strongest though, IMO, and it doesn't jam under load. 🔸 This knot was used to anchor airships down.
