“What would you do if you could freely choose?” I took this picture of myself roughly 15 years ago. It was the day that I turned my life upside down. It was the moment I realized: staying in my 'old life' would hurt more than risking everything for the life I actually wanted. I have not regretted this decision. I surely have struggled on this path, but I’m still out here—still learning, still sailing, still choosing the unknown. Because this is the life I freely choose. This isn’t a how-to. We LOVE Nando’s Peri-Peri sauce, but it's is hard to find (and pricey!) in Trinidad, so I decided to make my own version. The result; something that's smoky, spicy, tangy and full of flavour, which we can adapt to local ingredients as we sail around the work. 👉 Recipe: https://www.travelsketchsailing.com/post/homemade-nando-s-peri-peri-sauce To start, I char-grilled onions and capsicum (bell peppers) on the boat, then blended them with garlic, hot peppers, and spices. The mixture simmered then cooled before being emulsified it with oil. The result? A bright orange, homemade Peri-Peri sauce that’s just as good as Nando’s! After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. E' composto da uno strallo libero di ruotare e da un sistema che trasmette il moto rotatorio allo strallo stesso consentendo alla vela di avvolgersi attorno ad esso. Il sistema che imprime la rotazione può essere manuale (un tamburo dove si avvolge una cima che se alata fa girare lo strallo stesso arrotolando la vela) oppure motorizzato (idraulico o elettrico). L'avvolgifiocco è un sistema di uso generalizzato nelle imbarcazioni da crociera ed in quelle da regata atlantica. Consente di navigare con equipaggio ridotto e aumentanto i margini di sicurezza, soprattutto in caso di maltempo. Si chiama anche rollafiocco. avvolgiranda: (s.m.) Il primo consente di arrotolare la randa attorno al boma (che deve essere di tipo "girevole") il secondo attorno ad un asse girevole posto internamente o fissato esternamente all'albero. Il sistema che imprime la rotazione al boma oppure all'asse girevole parallelo all'albero, può essere manuale (un tamburo dove si avvolge una cima che se alata fa girare il sistema) oppure motorizzato (idraulico o elettrico). L'avvolgiranda è un sistema utilizzato generalmente nelle imbarcazioni da crociera perché consente di navigare con equipaggio ridotto e aumentanto i margini di sicurezza, soprattutto in caso di maltempo e necessità di ridurre la velatura. Si chiama anche rollaranda. Non viene invece usato nelle imbarcazioni da regata perché non consente di portare rande costruite con materiali speciali o con forme particolari che normalmente si usano nelle competizioni.
