“What would you do if you could freely choose?” I took this picture of myself roughly 15 years ago. It was the day that I turned my life upside down. It was the moment I realized: staying in my 'old life' would hurt more than risking everything for the life I actually wanted. I have not regretted this decision. I surely have struggled on this path, but I’m still out here—still learning, still sailing, still choosing the unknown. Because this is the life I freely choose. This isn’t a how-to. The second week for the season ending frosties regatta at SLYC was sailed under grey skies with in light to moderate breeze. The crew on the J109 GTR was short handed on the day some many of the crew had to double job when turning the corners. The skipper of GTR was thrown forward to the bow to ensure the kite was stowed before running down the back to steer the boat up the next beat.
