“What would you do if you could freely choose?” I took this picture of myself roughly 15 years ago. It was the day that I turned my life upside down. It was the moment I realized: staying in my 'old life' would hurt more than risking everything for the life I actually wanted. I have not regretted this decision. I surely have struggled on this path, but I’m still out here—still learning, still sailing, still choosing the unknown. Because this is the life I freely choose. This isn’t a how-to. Nick organised everything with the brokers and the charter companies and the people on the ground to go see the boats. In one trip he stopped at three different marinas and basically in a weekend he had shown me, took video tours of the boats. Very thorough went through every compartment with me taking videos. Showed everything. I felt like I knew the boat before I even showed up after we made the decision. The drone shots of the rigging were fantastic. We nixed one boat right off the top. Just wasn't interested in it. Too much, too much going on with it. And then it was a real close tie between the two remaining boats.
