Doing a rig check before offshore sailing? Here’s how we inspect our rigging before every passage. From the top of the mast, we check for cracked fittings, loose pins, corrosion, and halyard chafe — the small things that can turn into big problems at sea. We use a climbing harness (or a bosun’s chair works too), a figure 8 knot for extra security, and always a backup halyard. Clear communication and double-checking gear are key when one of you is literally hoisting the other up the mast. If you've seen other vids on my channel, I like to bring this pond yacht to the same lake as the rc voyager 280 sailboat, but it always itches me not to get both of them under command (plus the occasional tangling with the safety string) The electronics are dirty simple, and salvaged from a very old solar rc buggy. The buggy always lacked power, so in the end I took it apart. The receiver is waterproof under a plastic cover. The motor will have to survive... The battery pack is custom made. The range may be about 9 meters only. Still better than the tangles and pulls of the safety string The construction... you'd be the judge... Buoyancy test passed, but who knows if it won't capsize on a gust... Wish me luck!
