Doing a rig check before offshore sailing? Here’s how we inspect our rigging before every passage. From the top of the mast, we check for cracked fittings, loose pins, corrosion, and halyard chafe — the small things that can turn into big problems at sea. We use a climbing harness (or a bosun’s chair works too), a figure 8 knot for extra security, and always a backup halyard. Clear communication and double-checking gear are key when one of you is literally hoisting the other up the mast. Il corso è rivolto a tutti coloro che, con una buona conoscenza delle manovre fondamentali della barca e della navigazione, desiderano partecipare ad una full-immersion di una settimana di navigazione nel bacino di mare compreso tra Italia, Slovenia e Croazia. Il Corso viene organizzato per consentire all’allievo comandante di acquisire l’esperienza nella preparazione di crociere costiere in condizioni di sicurezza anche con cattivo tempo e in navigazione notturna. Il corso è particolarmente adatto per coloro che sono in procinto di iniziare il corso di patente nautica e per coloro che pur avendo superato l’esame di patente, non hanno ancora acquisito l’esperienza sufficiente per condurre in autonomia un’imbarcazione da crociera. Il programma comprende 6 giorni di navigazione durante i quali gli allievi si alterneranno al comando effettivo della barca sotto la guida dei nostri istruttori per acquisire la competenza idonea al comando. We stopped on over to Long Island from George Town, Bahamas for a few days. We anchored out in Thompson Bay, near Salt Pond. There's a dinghy dock that is privately owned north of the Government Dock. We've been told that the owners are very gracious to allow cruisers to use it...and we agree. It's super nice. Just outside of the fence, there are some garbage cans for garbage. I forget about the exact name of the street, but I learned it's named after the family that owns the property nearby, Basil. Take a right on Queens Highway and the Farmer's Market is on the right. Perhaps a quarter mile down the road. We bought Long Island Salt, Long Island Pepper Salt, Hot Sauce, Fresh Dill, Fresh Basil and Zucchini Bread.
