EXPLORE Alor Diving with Vaiatea Liveaboard Never has 'off the beaten track' been more appropriate than about a liveaboard around Alor. Located between Flores and the Sawoe Sea and comprised of 20 islands, the Alor archipelago is located in the Coral Triangle. It is home to some of the most varied diving you will encounter in a single location - with over 50 dive spots stretching from Alor Island to Pantar Island. Best known for spectacular coral and muck diving, spot multicolor macro critters in volcanic sands, sharks, sea snakes over healthy coral reefs, and anything in between - with scalloped hammerheads on our secret spots. Pantar Strait houses some of the best dive sites in Alor. Blue whales migrate through the area at certain times of the year and can be seen with pilot whales and schools of dolphins. With some powerful currents, the diving in Alor is more suited to experienced divers. Piracy in the Aegean Sea was a sophisticated operation that involved a network of pirates, merchants, and other collaborators. The pirates had bases on various islands and the mainland, from where they launched their attacks. They used fast and maneuverable ships, armed with cannons and other weapons, to overpower their targets. Once they captured a ship, they would loot its cargo, including money, precious metals, and slaves. They would then sell the loot to merchants and other traders, who were willing to buy them at a lower price. #shorts #pirates #piratesoftheaegean

⛵The OXO method is a simple and effective way to tie a line onto a boat cleat and is often used by boaters to secure their boats in place. Here are the steps to follow: Begin by taking the end of the line and making a small loop, with the standing part of the line on the bottom and the working end on the top. Bring the line's working end down and around the base of the cleat, making an "O" shape. Next, bring the line's working end back up and over the top of the loop, creating an "X" shape. Then, bring the line's working end down and around the base of the cleat again, creating a second "O" shape. Finally, bring the line's working end back up and over the top of the loop again, creating a second "X" shape. To finish, snug up the line by pulling on the standing part of the line and making a few half hitches around one of the horns of the cleat to keep the line securely in place. The result should be a secure and reliable knot that will keep your boat safely moored to the cleat. It is important to remember always to double-check your knots and make sure they are secure before leaving your boat unattended. #sailingexperience #sailinglife #boatlife #short
