With the ever-increasing explosion of foiling into the sailing community Australian Sailing is working to develop programs and resources to support sailors and clubs to get involved in this new and exciting space. One of the first initiatives is the development of FOIL-LABs which are day long introductory sessions allowing participants to experience and learn about foiling. FOIL-LABs provide a safe space for sailors to learn and interact with a new type of sailing experience and equip themselves with new knowledge to take on foiling classes. Sailors will learn the fundamentals that drive a hydrofoils performance, as well learn about the body and physical relationships that offer a path to mastery. Mastering the basics gives more options to have more fun, more often. It also allows sailors to chase performance in a range of modern performance sailing classes in a fun and fulfilling way. The Glen yacht, a stunning vessel designed by the talented Alfred Mylne in the Mid 1900's, is truly a timeless classic that has captured the hearts of many sailing enthusiasts. This remarkable yacht showcases an elegant design and exceptional craftsmanship, and you will find many of these beautiful boats racing each Wednesday Night on the picturesque and serene Strangford Lough. The first race of the eagerly anticipated 2025 season got underway in perfect conditions, with the sun shining brightly and a light to moderate breeze providing the ideal setting for a thrilling competition. As the day transitioned into night, the sunset was absolutely spectacular, painting the sky with vibrant hues as this Glen yacht punched through the glowing setting sun, making its way up to the final top mark in the exhilarating first race of the season.
