One of the things I love about sailing the world and traveling the way we do is trying new foods and learning new ways of cooking. In Trinidad, one of the clear winners has been Green Seasoning! A simple yet versatile seasoning mix, we'd never come across it before visiting the Caribbean. Now, it goes on BBQ ribs and chicken, and into our Trini curries, almost becoming a staple in our galley fridge! I show you how I make a flavorful, Trinidad-inspired green seasoning, a staple in Caribbean cuisine, before finishing off with some delicious BBQ! In mine I put thyme, spring onions (chives), pimento, habanero and parsley, garlic when I remember, and usually a bit of oil and lime juice. While visiting rural Michigan, I got the unexpected pleasure of being able to explore the biggest and best car museum in America! The Gilmore Car Museum and surrounding grounds showcases an incredible collection of over 400 cars, including rare and vintage models, American muscle cars, motorcycles and even the horseless carriages. From classic American roadsters to sleek European sports cars, this museum has it all. It's always an emotional moment when a man and his dog have a heartwarming reunion after a month apart! But I’m happy to admit I was completely wrong. We've had massive rainstorms here in St Martin — over 100 gallons of rainwater ended up in our dinghy in just one day. Normally, it would have taken 20+ minutes (and a lot of effort) to bail it out by hand, but with the transfer pump it was emptied in about 3 minutes, no heavy lifting, no drama. The pump runs on the same Milwaukee M12 batteries we already use with our other tools and can be used in other areas of the boat, like the water tanks, bilges and lockers. Rose is learning to help out around the yacht, one job at a time! She started hovering at the top of the ladder whenever I was trying to get out so I’ve started passing her gear from the water so she can carefully grab it and set it down on the transom. She’s still figuring it out (some bites are better than others 😂), but the goal is to have her drop everything on the deck or in a bucket, maybe even working up to doing it on the tender too! Last year Trinidad, this year Saint Martin! A new experience for us, we're celebrating Carnival 2025 on the French side of St Martin, an island in the northern windward islands of the Caribbean. The small but vibrant parade showed a passion for the spirit of Carnival with each troupe performing for the crowd and showing of their skills. There was dancing, drumming, moko jumbies and whip cracking, with a positive vibe as visitors and locals alike shared in the day. Grocery shopping when you live on a boat can be a bit of a mission, so one of the most useful things we have aboard is our Tipke folding cart (link below). In order to get our sailboat home ready to explore the Caribbean Sea it was time to reinstall the genoa sail! Nicknamed "the dummy sail" on our boat, it's the easiest of our sails to use, able to be operated by one person back in the helm of our Leopard 45 catamaran, and used in a wide range of wind conditions.
