No matter what we're doing around our catamaran, boat dog Rose always wants to be involved!! Today I was working on the exhaust mixer elbows of our marine diesel engines, with periodic visits from her to make sure I was alright and still there... that, or she was hinting she felt like going for a walk 😂 Having an Australian Shepherd on a boat isn't always easy, but her huge personality and sense of adventure make it worth having the #1 sailing dog aboard. 🐶 #boatdog #sailordog #dogsworld

In our last video I started making all-new cushions to upgrade our boat. The originals were ready for the bin - destroyed covers, collapsed foam and so uncomfortable you questioned whether you were actually laying on concrete. While they might only be a DIY effort, I think the new ones have turned out pretty good. The foam is way more comfy and the blue fabric should look even better once our catamaran relaunches and the saloon is contrasting off the ocean!

Living on a sailboat, we come across the authorities far more often than you might expect! In the Mediterranean we experienced the Algerian and Croatian navy (Algerian was super stressful!!), and the Italian financial police, but Trinidad is the first time we've been stopped by the coast guard. It was late at night, around midnight, when we saw their blue flashing lights come at us as we motored through the First Bocas, returning to Trinidad after months sailing up and down the Caribbean island chain. We didn't expect to see Trinidad's coast guard, but it's nice to know they're out there. 👉 SUPPORT THE STORY TELLING ⛵ Gain access to our member only area: https://www.travelsketchsailing.com/join-in 😎 Tip jar: https://buy.stripe.com/6oE8A1d9Yabj4OA9AB After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. Gibraltar is BY FAR, one of the MOST INTERESTING places we've ever sailed to. Inside and around the Rock of Gibraltar are so many historic war tunnels, that it's almost impossible not to feel captured by the spirit of adventure. One of the best places we visited was the Northern Defences, a series of World War and 1700s military tunnels and ruins that speak to the history of this small but proud British territory. In the process of being cleaned up and restored, we visited at a time when it was free and almost deserted, making it an experience we'll never forget. If you're visiting Gibraltar or even travelling around Spain, I highly recommend you see what the Rock of Gibraltar and Northern Defences has in store! 👉 SUPPORT THE PRODUCTION Tip jar: https://buy.stripe.com/6oE8A1d9Yabj4OA9AB ⛵ Gain access to our member only area: https://www.travelsketchsailing.com/join-in After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. One of our favourite places to go in Trinidad is Tucker Valley, in the Chaguaramas peninsular. Filled with jungle trails and waterfalls, it's also home to some old military installations like abandoned Tracking Station. Near Covigne River, there are some old bunkers left over the the US military occupation of the area. #urbanexploration #military #jungle

Trinidad was our Australian Shepherd's first experience of the jungle, and there's no doubt Rose loves it!! Near to where our sailing home is hauled out, there are some easy jungle trails that really showcase the natural beauty of Trinidad. This particular trail is the Covigne River Gorge, a hiking spot that takes you through the lush trees and tall bamboo, into steep gorges and up waterfalls. For a dog, it's a place to truly run wild and free! ______ After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. As our Leopard 45 catamaran is lifted into the air and moved around on the hardstand our adventurous boat dog stays aboard! She is used to the boat being in motion, and loves nothing more than sailing around, watching dolphins and trying to figure out if they're friends or food 😂 Rose has been a liveaboard dog for 3+ years now, visiting 10+ countries across 3 continents. She's an absolute legend - the best boat dog we could have asked for! #boatdog #sailing #boatlife #trinidad

It's been announced that the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit is in Trinidad and Tobago this week for coordinated operations with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, explaining the helicopters flying over Chaguaramas yesterday. One of the listed locations for the exercises is Teteron Barracks, a military Trinidadian base right near the shipyards where many foreign sailing vessels are stored, including ours. For context, this area is located approximately 13.5 miles from Venezuela. The U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain said the training is aimed at tackling transnational threats, strengthening regional stability, and improving disaster-response capabilities. Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force officials added that the exercises support their efforts to reduce the flow of guns and drugs into Trinidad and Tobago.

Once again, our Australian Shepherd dog Rose is finding her own entertainment as we work on our Leopard 45 catamaran in Trinidad. Last time it was water bottles, this time coconuts are her favorite toy! Luckily they're abundant around the boat, so it's easy enough to find a new one when she eventually rips it to pieces... It just goes to show that if there was ever a dog that was meant to live aboard a boat, it's her! Can't wait until we relaunch, and Rose gets to keep exploring the world by sea as the #1 good boat dog! We LOVE Nando’s Peri-Peri sauce, but it's is hard to find (and pricey!) in Trinidad, so I decided to make my own version. The result; something that's smoky, spicy, tangy and full of flavour, which we can adapt to local ingredients as we sail around the work. 👉 Recipe: https://www.travelsketchsailing.com/post/homemade-nando-s-peri-peri-sauce To start, I char-grilled onions and capsicum (bell peppers) on the boat, then blended them with garlic, hot peppers, and spices. The mixture simmered then cooled before being emulsified it with oil. The result? A bright orange, homemade Peri-Peri sauce that’s just as good as Nando’s! When it comes to jungle hikes our Australian Shepherd dog Rose has zero chill! When she sees a waterfall, it's just the next part of the adventure because this joyful boat dog loves sliding down the rocks in Trinidad so much we actually have to slow her down! From the rainforest to the river, she’s always the first one in and generally the last to leave. As we sail around the world, we really couldn't ask for a better dog to have by our side 🐶🐕⛵ After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. One of the things I love about sailing the world and traveling the way we do is trying new foods and learning new ways of cooking. In Trinidad, one of the clear winners has been Green Seasoning! A simple yet versatile seasoning mix, we'd never come across it before visiting the Caribbean. Now, it goes on BBQ ribs and chicken, and into our Trini curries, almost becoming a staple in our galley fridge! I show you how I make a flavorful, Trinidad-inspired green seasoning, a staple in Caribbean cuisine, before finishing off with some delicious BBQ! In mine I put thyme, spring onions (chives), pimento, habanero and parsley, garlic when I remember, and usually a bit of oil and lime juice. You'd usually add chadon beni to a Trini green seasoning, but we tend to skip it as one of our boat's crew prefers it without. _________________________________________________ After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. While visiting rural Michigan, I got the unexpected pleasure of being able to explore the biggest and best car museum in America! The Gilmore Car Museum and surrounding grounds showcases an incredible collection of over 400 cars, including rare and vintage models, American muscle cars, motorcycles and even the horseless carriages. From classic American roadsters to sleek European sports cars, this museum has it all. Join us in a travel adventure as we explore the history of Trinidad's abandoned tracking station, a relic of the Cold War era. This Caribbean island is home to an decommissioned US military facility, filled with crumbling structures and remnants of a bygone era. From the remnants of the giant radar dish to the eerie silence of the abandoned rooms, every step reveals a piece of history that's been left to decay.

As part of readying our sailboat for a hurricane season of storage in the Trinidad shipyard post haul-out, Tynan went up the mast to bring down the wind instruments. It's just a normal part of boat life that we do to reduce unnecessary wear and tear on these invaluable marine data instruments. ______________________________________________ https://www.travelsketchsailing.com/ ☝ Check out the website for more info on us, the places we go and products we use 📷 After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. 🎶 Music from Artlist ➼ Get yourself 2 months free with a subscription https://artlist.io/Telicia-1577425 #liveaboardlife #sailinglife #Catamaran #trinidad #trinidadandtobago #boatlife #sailing #shipyard #yachting #yachtlifestyle #diy #nomadiclife

Hurricane season is when many liveaboard cruisers in the Caribbean haul out and store their boats on land, and with plenty of work still to do, we decided to do the same. We chose Peake Yacht Services in Trinidad, where their 150 ton travel lift handled our 45ft Leopard Catamaran with ease. The team was professional, efficient, and made the whole process smooth - thanks guys! 🎶 Music from Artlist ➼ Get yourself 2 months free with a subscription https://artlist.io/Telicia-1577425 #sailing #boatlife #trinidadandtobago #yachtlifestyle #shipyard #Catamaran #yachting #nomadiclife #caribbean #sailinglife #trini #boatlifestyle #liveaboard
