But I'm happy to admit I was completely wrong. We've had massive rainstorms here in St Martin - over 100 gallons of rainwater ended up in our dinghy in just one day. Normally, it would have taken 20+ minutes (and a lot of effort) to bail it out by hand, but with the transfer pump it was emptied in about 3 minutes, no heavy lifting, no drama. The pump runs on the same Milwaukee M12 batteries we already use with our other tools and can be used in other areas of the boat, like the water tanks, bilges and lockers. Rose is learning to help out around the yacht, one job at a time! She started hovering at the top of the ladder whenever I was trying to get out so I've started passing her gear from the water so she can carefully grab it and set it down on the transom. She's still figuring it out (some bites are better than others ?), but the goal is to have her drop everything on the deck or in a bucket, maybe even working up to doing it on the tender too! Last year Trinidad, this year Saint Martin! A new experience for us, we're celebrating Carnival 2025 on the French side of St Martin, an island in the northern windward islands of the Caribbean. The small but vibrant parade showed a passion for the spirit of Carnival with each troupe performing for the crowd and showing of their skills. After 2 months in the water it was time to start cleaning the hull, scraping off what's grown under the waterline in the warm Caribbean waters! In order to get our sailboat home ready to explore the Caribbean Sea it was time to reinstall the genoa sail! In the almost 2 years we've spent in Trinidad repairing our boat in the shipyard and on anchor we've made some amazing friends. While living in a Trinidadian shipyard we saw a stray puppy, running around late at night avoiding people and eating trash. After a few nights of getting her used to us we took her in, fostering her for adoption and giving her the name Chi Chi. The transformation was incredible! We had her treated for worms, spayed, fattened her up and did some training, and a few months later she was adopted into a new home. #doglife #rescuedogs
