What's the first step in fixing a keel after running aground? Our keel is cracked, which is commonly referred to as a Catalina smile. When we ran aground, it goes worse. So, time for the diy project masters to get it done. Catalina had a design flaw in the late seventies and eighties, they put wood in the keel stub. The results lead to a smile like feature at the front of the keel. With our running aground, it's more like the joker now.
