Umbrella on a Sailboat: The Scandal

Yes, maybe not for everyone. But I prefer no dodger or bimini or connection of the two. In a gale I want only boat, not barn siding. Is an umbrella ridiculous? I see your point. But it can be put up or down in a moment, and aside from the merry-go-round look, is efficient.
