The Ocean Race Leg 7 Crash

A major collision between 11th Hour Racing Team and GUYOT environnement Team Europe at the start of the final Leg 7 forced both teams to postpone racing and return to the dock in The Hague. Here's what happened. Both were badly damaged. The skipper of GUYOT admitted responsibility and the team withdrew from the leg. But for 11th Hour Racing Team who have been leading the race overall for the last two legs and were hoping take the overall win, the collision is a catastrophe. Shortly before the team left Aarhus on Leg 6 Matt Sheahan spoke to crew member Jack Boutell about what it takes to keep an IMOCA on the road. Little did anyone know what was to come.
