Testing the Kite at Sea | Kite up, Solar on
Kite test day on the Atlantic! We flew the kite for about 4–5 hours, switching between manual control and full autopilot to see how the yacht performs in different wind angles and loads. In lighter breeze we held around 5.3–5.6 knots with minimal power draw. In stronger wind, the kite and solar together kept us close to energy-neutral at ~6 knots, even with the boat fully underway. Every hour teaches us more. We’re learning as we go, testing conditions, fine-tuning the setup and gathering real data for the rest of the passage. More updates coming from the ocean.
