It was a very different start to the Hobart race in 2023. The old adage ‘Out the heads and turn right’ was very loosely interpreted on Boxing Day, with the fleet scattering across a 90 degree arc as they left the harbour, in hope more than expectation that their selected route would come good against a capricious forecast. We caught the four 100 footers as they left Sydney in sloppy seas and a light and fitful nor’easter. And no, this vision isn’t in slo mo!
