The plan is to replace the gas engine with an electric engine that weighs around 120 pounds and produces 30hp! This sounds great, but first we have to get the old motor out of there and that is a tricky process. Herby takes you through the whole process of pulling the motor, showing you what works and what didn't work so that when you pull your own engine, you can skip all the parts that didn't work and just do what worked! If you have any projects, be sure to use our link for TotalBoat: https://www.TotalBoat.com/riggingdoctor . It's the stuff we use on our own boat and it helps out the channel :-) 0:00 Intro 0:39 Plan to remove motor 1:00 Lithium batteries in cold weather 2:42 Always have a simple backup plan 3:04 Comments on the thru-hull sealing 3:58 Removing the motor 4:30 Poor design features in boats and how to correct them 7:43 Challenges in removing the motor 9:19 Thought process on removing the motor with your own mast 10:44 How do I know if I need to replace my halyard? 11:56 Carrying spare synthetic rigging on your sailboat 13:15 Replacing the old halyard for a new one 14:20 Using the old halyard and devising a backup plan 15:32 Lifting the heavy old motor 20:02 The motor is out!
