Red Kite - Wildlife Filmmaker - Z Cam Watch in 4K
Seeing a red kite soaring high in the sky hunting or being opportunistic is a true delight! Once a very rare bird, hunted close to extinction in the UK, thanks to successful reintroduction projects, these wonderful birds can now be seen in lots of places in the UK. The M40 corridor was one of the first re-introduction sites for these birds of prey. They are quite like the common Buzzard, but the red kite has more angled red wings that are tipped with black and a beautiful forked tail. Sometimes they can be seen hunting for food, but mostly red kites are in fact largely scavengers or flying high looking for opportunities, roadkill, newly fledged birds, and small prey like rabbits. Listen out for their 'mewing' calls, when the sun is shining and warm thermals help them soar high in the skies. Longer than my normal short films, not sure if it drags on a little?
