We will discover our last chapter together with Alena Blohm. In our previous chapters, we have highlighted the problems of plastic in the oceans, its impact on the life of fishermen. We will meet now people who are committed to helping to solve the problem. They are numerous in the world; and, they are in Mumbai too. With Alena Blohm, we returned to Dharavi and meet a community working and dedicated on recycling plastic, the Green Workers, who are also supported by the association Dharavi Project. “Their work is enormous”. The Dharavi Project told us; without them the whole Mumbai would be a dump. They indeed act daily, tracking in the streets all possible plastic from the streets, beaches and dumps, they bring it in their homes where they sort it, segregate it and then sell it to be recycled. They make money by doing so, as a daily activity which is extremely useful. The association supports them, organizes and train them to better methods of waste-handling and recycling. The association also tries to give them better sanitary conditions, offering education as well, bringing thus hope to the community. The last chapter closes our global vision of plastic in the ocean. We hope you enjoy it.
