Sailing offshore in the winter months looking for Northern Gannets and North Atlantic Right Whales. The females and calves use the shallow and warm continental shelf to have their young after an 18 month gestation period. The calves grow at an amazing 50 lbs per, HOUR! Yep, they have to put on a thick layer of blubber to survive the colder northeastern coast during the summer months when their food source is rich and plentiful. What an amazing ocean creature experience. We stayed super far away to give them room to do what Whales do. Have you ever heard a ЁЯРЛ whale? Sounds like a lion roar, a grizzly bear, or an alligator rumble! Super to be able to see and hear this awesome creature of the Ocean! #sailing @sundog_sailing #whales #doscapitanas #offshore #rare #northatlanticrightwhale
