Microsoft swallows my charts; arriving in the Canary Islands

We are met with generally warmer, sunnier, and gentler weather as we progress south toward the Canary Islands. But unbeknownst to me a monster was lurking in the depths of my electronic navigation systems, and one fine day Microsoft Windows 10's mighty tentacles suddenly had me in a death grip. My main laptop where I carry OpenCPN and all of my charts decided to update the entire operating system, which then locked me out of all of my commercial charts by changing the computer ID.
