Lewmar Race Day 2 - Oyster Palma Regatta | Oyster Yachts
Lewmar Race Day 2 After a very flat start and a postponed race start, the fleet chased the breeze down into Palma Bay to begin their pursuit. Conceptualised by Richard Hadida, the premise behind The Oyster Cup was for the full Oyster fleet to enjoy a competitive pursuit, no matter their size. With a staggered start, the smallest Oysters cross the start line first and the largest started last, it was a three-hour race with a competitive finish. The final 30 minutes saw the fleet throwing everything at the race, with boats tacking to gain ground and tactical advantage over their competitors. The larger boats came into their own towards the finish line, as several 885s gained huge advantages in the final minutes. Full results will be announced at our final prizegiving on Friday, where the 120-year-old Oyster Cup will be awarded to the first-placed yacht.
