Is Nauticat motorsailer a safe boat?
Generally, I think the Nauticat is a very safe boat, but I have two concerns. 1. The raised aft deck is too high up. This can be dangerous in rough seas, and the guard rail is too low. 2. The access to the aft deck (cockpit) is through the sliding doors on the side. To get from the secure pilot house to the aft deck you need to climb outside the pilothouse. This can be dangerous in heavy weather. To help out this situation, I discuss some solutions in this video. How can we rigg the sails, and how can we operate the sails from inside the pilot house? Do you have thoughts on this solution? Do you have better ideas? I would love to see your comments below! Sailing through rough seas requires excellent boat handling skills.
