How we Beat the Schengen Shuffle - Update from Greece#shengenvisa

We are now in Greece and again we have successfully entered the EU using our crew list and are looking forward to enjoying another summer sailing the Mediterranean without the restrictions of Schengen. This is an update on our experience entering the EU and travelling through Malta, Italy and Greece. 2023 was our first year sailing in the Mediterranean and like all non-EU sailors, navigating the Schengen requirements was daunting. We were delighted when an agent in Italy introduced us to the process where we could "check out" of the EU but still sail as crew on our vessel.
