In 1981, Sir Peter Blake and Ceramco set a Whitbread Round the World Race 24-hour record of 316 nautical miles. In 42 years, that distance has more than doubled. From the classic Whitbread 60s and Volvo Open 70s to the modern foiling IMOCAs, offshore racing technology has evolved at a breakneck pace. During the 2022-23 Ocean Race, the 24-hour record changed hands three times in a single Atlantic crossing—ultimately topped by @teammalizia at an astounding 641.13 nautical miles.
