From La Ciotat to Cap d’Agde: Long Passages & Unexpected Discoveries - Sailing Helios S03E34

With a break in the weather, it’s finally time to cast off from La Ciotat and continue our voyage west along the French coast. It’s a very early start for us—alarms ringing before 4am—before settling in for a 14-hour passage toward a small marina in Carnon. It may not be classic Instagram territory, but Carnon turns out to be a hidden gem: a calm, protected berth, friendly locals, and cafés and ice creams just steps from Helios. Exactly what tired sailors need after a long day at sea. The next morning, we head out for a celebratory breakfast for Richard’s birthday before pointing Helios toward the famous Cap d’Agde—known worldwide for its huge nudist village and sprawling beach. For us, though, it’s another fantastic marina stopover with all the chandleries we’ve been hoping for. And perhaps… a little visit to the village? That’s for next week.
