After months of work, disappointment, joy, heartbreak, and preparation, the day has finally come for Vie Sauvage to slip off her mooring lines and head out into the Pacific Ocean to raise her sails. The episodes these days are a collection of "firsts"! This is the first time I have ever sailed my own boat and it is also the first time Vie Sauvage has sailed in almost two decades! She has patiently waited by this dock for someone to come along and get her going like she's supposed to...under sail. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG6diCN-nm_nUS-BS-hJHTA/join A couple months ago, I had set a sea-trials deadline of April 1. I thought I had given myself plenty of time when I set that goal and I was well ahead of schedule. But then, a series of events sidetracked the project, not the least of which was the discovery of water in the oil of the onboard diesel. That engine is critical in getting us in and out of the marina as well as getting us out of trouble should we need it while sailing. I thought my deadline was dead in the water (pun intended), but then I get a message from a friend of the show, Rick Cook. Rick and I met here at the marina one day a few weeks ago while he was exploring options for mooring his own boat. Rick said, "do you want to go sailing on your boat this weekend?". I said yes! With two people, we could use the tender and outboard motor to get the sailboat out of the marina and back...so that is what we did! Thank you Rick! And thank you to the @Patreon supporters who came together to hit our goal of 10 paid members by the end of March! Your financial contributions help sustain the content and make this series possible. We also have folks who support the show in other ways including gifts. You know who you are and so do I. Thank you very much! We are going for another 10 Patreon members for the month of April now. Please check out the link in the channel description so you can see what we're doing as a community over on Patreon.
