ep37 - Sailing Nantucket - Sailing Massachusetts - HR54 Cloudy Bay, Aug 2018

s/v Cloudy Bay's (Hallberg-Rassy 54) sailing trip continues, and in this video we are sailing Cloudy Bay from Martha's Vineyard to the island of Nantucket. In Nantucket we had 4 days of bright sunshine and calm weather. We anchored sv Cloudy Bay in the busy Nantucket Harbour along side many super-yachts from the south, while we toured this picturesque island from one end to the other on our GoCycles. Just like Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket has many lovely beaches backed by sand dunes and endless pretty houses, each shingle-clad with perfectly manicured gardens, many down to the ocean front. We were particularly impressed by Sankaty road and Siasconset. On the last day in Nantucket town, we visited the very informative Nantucket Whaling Museum where we learned a lot about where the 17-1800s wealth came from in this part of the world. Whaling ships left from here for multiple year voyages that took them in the south Pacific. Clearly whaling was the lucrative oil-industry of its day.
