Ep 10 - Making the Moulds

In this episode, we give an in-depth instructional on how to make the moulds (molds) for a traditional wooden sailboat. Starting with the station lines lofted in Ep 5, we use a direct transfer technique to pick up the shapes of the curves onto wood that we then we use to make the moulds. We discuss: The theory of the moulds; how to make identical mirror copies of half of the moulds using a flush trim bit on a router table; the proper alignment of the two halves of the moulds; and bracing the moulds.
