E99 - Swimming With Curious and Playful Seals, Baird Bay

802 Visninger· 15/10/22

Leaving Sceale Bay we round Cape Blanche and Cape Radstock and enter the very shallow Baird Bay. Dropping the tender, we head to the sandy beach at Jones Island which is now gone with the incoming tide to find all the seals gone. As soon as we arrive though, they come waddling down between the rocks and into the water to play with us. The boys head out for a dive and catch a few large southern rock lobster (crayfish), before we head off to the very pretty and protected Venus Bay. We're Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams.
