Dismasted Amel Super Maramu
On a visit to a marina in Indonesia I came upon this dismasted Amel Super Maramu. I heard through the grapevine that the solo sailor was caught in a sudden storm in the South China Sea with too much sail aloft. Before he could reduce sail he suffered knockdown and subsequent dismasting. The sailor survived the incident with a severe concussion. A true testament to the strength of the Amel boats is that the hull integrity was not compromised, and the vessel was successfully salvaged by the owner.
